The reason I would choose an already existing company rather than start a media institution of my own is due to 2 main reasons. Firstly, an already established media institution has several ties with other institutions when working on previous media products  with other film institutions e.g. BBC Films. This means that my first film would have good credibility as well as a large sum of money to be spend on advertising and distributing my media product, overall increasing the films profits and expanding the film nationally. 

The other reason for choosing this company is due to the films credibility with previous projects due to this, this would give my media product a good platform to start on due to its small scale. The small scale would also be perfect for a smaller media institution, this is because the small budget and small scale would mean that the film would be distributed nationally. Furthermore, because my media product tackles unusual themes, this would mean that these issues would be shown on a mainstream platform within cinemas.

If I were to start my own distribution company then the chances of large exposure would be minimal, this is because of the micro - budget that the film would be used from, meaning that there would be little money to spend on distribution and advertising
