What I have learnt

Throughout the process of producing my media product I have learnt many things over time. The most outstanding things i have taken away from tis has been the range of technical skills I have learnt through feedback ect. These include framing, pacing and sound, I would say these three have been the biggest factors over the production process that I have learnt.

Let's Work Together :)

Sound was the last thing that I really learnt about and developed during the production and editing process. For my first few edits there was no sound a all to give me some freedom when deciding what to include for sound. When sound was added it was clear that some uses of sound in the sequence were better suited than other, this allowed me to learn what works and what does not when adding sound to my sequence.

Also, I learnt that when the sounds were added it gave the sequence a better sense of realism, e.g. the dog barks and the light wind sounds.

Music was a huge learning curve for me during this process, this is because I went through several different soundtracks and scores for my sequence, however this allowed me to find the perfect music choice for my opening, as this gives the largest affect to the audience.

Firstly, framing in my opening was very important to establish power in my characters, many shots shots and clips in the editing process where changed to make the shot and message different when viewing the opening. For example, many clips were altered in the edit to give a different feel to the shot, this is clear the shots from my first edit to my last. During the entire process, through watching other thrillers I built an understanding on how important framing is within a shot, and how this can give messages to the audience and how framing influences the audiences views on a character.

Pacing was also a large skill I learnt over time. This is because there were criticisms stating the film was to slow at the start, so I had to change the pace of the scene by trimming the clips in the editing process. By the end of this the pacing was improving. Another issue with the pacing was during the fight scene at the end. My audience feedback showed that the pace was to slow and poorly arrange, so I had to remove some clips to make the shots quicker and more effective to the audience.

Here shows the amount of cuts in the editing that sped up the pace of the opening.
